After 5 days of intense off road Racing, El Martillo Racing conclude the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally in its 50th anniversary.
A challenging race track across the beautiful peninsula of Baja, Mexico, with a new participants record in “The Happiest Race On Earth”, where El Martillo Racing took the green flag for the 4th time in the 8 years of this race.
After deciding to participate in the DiazFab Guaycura Race Car, with a 6-cylinder engine, we knew it was going to be almost impossible to compete with the big trucks, nevertheless the team took very seriously its participation finishing in the 34th place overall and 11th in class, a result that came with lots of fun and nice anecdotes.
The finish line in San Jose del Cabo (home of El Martillo Racing) was a great celebration with fans and friends that showed up to see the team receiving the checker’s flag at the Mijares Square.
At the end of the day, happy for finishing the race, Matt Campbell said: “We’ll get back again next year with this car, but we’ll make some adjustments to set a new engine and tranny so we can be more competitive”.
The team assisted to the awards party where all the heroes of this great race received their awards and a very deserved round of applauses.
