Even when we have to wait for official results, the non-official classification posted so long, show us finishing the 3rd day’s 1st special in 15th place, and 13th overall, that was Matt’s stage, and for the 2nd special, Rody got 1st place of the special stage classification and 8th overall! This is for sure the best result for El Martillo Racing in the 6 times we have raced the Mexican 1000 Rally!
The first stage resulted in a transmission cooler leak and an exhaust manifold blow out, resulting in a hearing loss for Matt and Nico however none of the problems slowed down Matt who did a great job driving the #153 Evolution Unlimited Class… During the transit section between the two specials, the oil cooler problem was solved and Rody got control to start the 2nd special of the day.
Amaya ran without issues and did a great job passing lots of cars taking the speedometer all the way up to 125 m/p/h, finishing the day in the 13th position, 1st place of the stage and the team is now 8th overall! Attaboy Rody!
This result allowed us to gain 3rd place of our class!
Matt will hold on tomorrow and let Rody drive through his hometown Constitucion to take the car to La Paz for the 2nd to last stage of this year’s NORRA, and Campbell will close the race in the 5th stage from La Paz to San Jose del Cabo.
Fingers crossed for the good luck and skill to bring this 2019 Norra home!
